The old geezer fishes more than I chase quail. As a matter of fact, I gave up chasing quail - I know that is a losing proposition. I do still rip out chunks of the redwood deck vaulting off after all the cottontails that sit placidly munching grass on the back lawn. The squirrels still tempt me into a chase now and then, but mostly I tree them and then bark treed until the geezer comes out to tell me what a good dog I am.

But back to fishing. I have learned that the geezer is a pretty good fisherman. We live on the edge of a Federal Wildlife Reserve that surrounds a 9 mile long by 3 mile wide lake. He fishes for largemouth bass from March to September (when the lake is closed to fishing so that the duck hunters can have their turn). He catches a lot of bass. I go along and snooze. Why get excited? He throws them all back. I'll have to admit it is pretty out there much of the time. There are 15,000 resident Canadian Geese, and thousands of Mallards and Wood Ducks on the lake now.

Notes

Yep, that's a new boat. The geezer finally decided to replace his old 1970's Monarch bass boat with a new Lowe's 16.5' Fisherman. It's got a 60 hp Yamaha 4 stroke engine on it, and is a really nice fishing boat. The decks are set below the gunnels level and that keeps the old geezer from falling out.

After 3.5 months he's put 29 gallons of gas in it. Of course the fact that the shoreline shown here is only 2.5 miles from the ramp we use helps.
