February. I
have sure been having a good time this winter. The old geezer has been
cleaning out 20 years of accumulation in his storage shop, and I've been
helping. Every time he turned his back to do some work I hauled something
out of the shop. The yard is now littered with everything from old boat tie
down straps, to margarine cartons, to torn up cardboard boxes, rags, and
anything else that wasn't nailed down.
As you can see from the photo to the left, I have got my heavy coat on
for these cold and windy days. I am quite a bit curlier than my predecessor,
Bert, and have a very thick and warm coat. When I get tired of wrecking the
place, I just lay down on an old scrap of rug I drug out of the shop and
rest for a while.
I think I've achieved my full height now, but I still have some weight to
put on before I'll be a full grown, bobbed tailed, wild and wooly Boykin. |

April. Now that we're done cleaning
the shop, I just learned that I'm supposed to clean up all that stuff
I've scattered around the back yard. That's just not fair. |

May. I have been learning all about
fishing. Boats sure are fun. I love to go for rides in the Old Man's
boats.
In this photo you can see that I am very good at helping to land
those slimy bass that my fishing partner catches now and then. Although
I hooked myself on several lures while helping clean the shop during the
winter, I have yet to grab a lure in the boat. And those humans think we
don't learn...

July. I'm really getting into this
fishing stuff. On this trip the geezer convinced the nice lady that she
should come down to the river and catch a few smallmouth bass. She
actually caught a bunch of bass and had a great time. Here I'm giving
her instructions on how to fight this nice 16" smallie. I keep telling
her to hold her rod tip higher, but she just won't listen to me. |

August. The old geezer made me pose
for my official portrait for 2009. I am about full grown now, weighing
in at 35 pounds of muscle.
I'm a rather handsome devil, aren't I? |
