The Great Unknown...or

we could call this reel "cranknut", for its really got a crank nut. I don't believe the reel is nickel plated brass as described on eBay. I think it is brass covered with a silver wash. If you're interested, take a look at the pictures (they are thumbnails - just click them to see a full size photo). I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has a similar reel, or has any information about this reel or its maker.

A good view of the headplate side of the reel. It is 3.5" in diameter, and has 1.75" pillars - six in all.
A closeup view of the headplate. The crank arm is 1/4" thick, and it has what looks to be a walnut or rosewood knob. The crank screws onto the gear shaft. The bearings are fixed.
Inside the headplate, and it's cover. The gear is screwed to the gear shaft. There is no bridge, the pin in the center of the gear shaft fits into the cup on the plate cover. Also note the Kentucky style click spring.
The inside of the backplate. The drag button slides the wedge in the groove to apply pressure to the spool. Note the brass showing through the thin silver wash in that one spot.
All the parts for the reel. The only major defect is that a former owner filed the reel foot to fit a small reel seat. Note the neat shape to the pillars.
The tail end. Note the sliding drag button. It is quite domed, and has a very long screw with a curved waist - very sculptured. All the screwheads are beveled.
One final view. This is a very rugged, but elegant, looking reel. I sure wish the foot was full size, but I'll overlook that defect.

Notes

This reel has got to be one of the most interesting items I've ever bought on eBay auction.
