The Jupiter Kentucky Reel is Hot!
Call it whatever you
want, but the Jupiter generic Kentucky reel is a hot item. This nice looking
German silver and jeweled reel has appeared on eBay quite a few times
recently. It is a fine reel, of that there is no doubt.
This reel appears in almost every major retailer's catalogs in the late
1920's - Abbey & Imbrie called it the "De Luxe Jeweled Multiplying Reel"; in
the 1926 V. L. & A. catalog it is named the "Perfection", and the following
year it was called the "Jupiter". I'm sure it was also sold by Edward Vom
Hofe, and Abercrombie & Fitch.
It seems that most eBay sellers want to call the reel a Talbot. No doubt
but what this helps sell the reel. Recent sales show this reel priced in the
$400 to $3050 (with Heddon markings).
