The Lake - 2010
 |
January. This is the jungle I will
be fishing in a month or so. The water will be a couple of feet deep
along this trail.
Every winter many trees fall across the deer trails and my fishing
paths. This requires some brush cleanup each winter.
The dogs have always loved this time of the year, for they get to
hunt squirrels and rabbits while I clear the paths. They have to stay at
home when I go fishing, and get very upset. |

January. The water under this tree
is sometimes2-4 feet deep. It is easy to see why it attracts bass when
the lake is filled. The brush is so thick in this area that boats cannot
access the spot and it becomes my own private fishing area.

February. This is the water ski dock
that the beaver were sleeping on last year, as shown in a 2009 photo. It
is now breaking apart from several years of wind and wave pounding
against the trees. |

May. This sure has been a strange
spring. We had a medium snow pack, so everyone expected the lake to not
fill to capacity. However, then it started to rain, and it has continued
to this month. The lake is full to the brim and the bass are finally
moving back into the miles of brushy shorelines. This 16" fish is not a
trophy, but was photographed to illustrate the average fish that comes
out of the lake. They are usually nice and fat and in good shape. The
other night I had a 30 fish evening using top water frogs. The fish were
in 1-3 foot of water and it sure was fun. I did catch a couple bigger
than this one, but nothing over 18".I'm looking forward to a lot of fun
in the next month or so. |
